The surface-air moisture flux is calculated from a mathematical model that
requires observational data (satellite sensor and surface meteorological measurements) as
input. The result is a digital array of values representing the spatial and temporal
variation of moisture flux over a region. The graph illustrate the spatial and temporal
variation of moisture flux at mid latitude on a clear day. EOS ASTER will provide areal
estimates of surface temperature at 10:30 A.M. local time. Empirically derived
relationship between moisture flux changes and changes in environmental parameters will
enable estimates of the moisture flux to be made at other times of the day.
