Four images of the San Pedro River Basin in southeastern Arizona are shown here
representing different sections of the river ( sinuous blue line in the center of each
panel). The images were obtained by aircraft over flight of the Thermal Infrared
Multispectral scanner (TIMS) instrument whose thermal infrared bands are similar to
ASTERs. Estimates of surface temperature are obtained from images like these and the
data is used in special mathematical algorithms to calculate the surface moisture fluxes.
