Two flight lines were selected, one in the North East of the Salton
Sea and one in Ivanpah playa. The information for these line are:
North East Salton Sea
38 degrees 32 minutes 6 seconds North
115 degrees 58 minutes 1 second West
and
38 degrees 28 minutes 49 seconds North
115 degrees 54 minutes 14 seconds West
Ivanpah Playa
Center point of 35.550 N and 115.385 W at a
heading of 170/350 degrees (north to south or south to north does not
matter) with a flight length of +/- 6 km from that center point.
The proposed plan is for flying these lines on 17 January
Plan for the 17 January 1999
Start the Salton Sea line at low altitude, 2 km (approximately 5 m/pixel) followed by two
addition flights of the same line at 4 and 8 km (approximately 10 and 20 m/pixel) with
about 15 minutes between lines. Time center the middle 4 km line on the time of the
Landsat acquisition at 17:54 UTC. (That's 9:54 AM Pacific Standard Time). Following the
Salton Sea flights, fly the Ivanpah line at the medium altitude (4 km) and high altitude
(8 km).
