Jonah Gas Field
 (JPG) (178,456 bytes) ( 715 x 900 )
Located in Wyoming‘«÷s Upper Green River Valley, the Jonah natural gas field is considered one of this country‘«÷s most significant natural gas discoveries in recent times. Jonah contains an estimated 7 to 10 Tcf (trillion cubic feet) of natural gas. Discovered in 1975, it was only in the last 10 years that the field turned from sagebrush into one of the nation‘«÷s richest gas fields, with 500 wells. A new proposal would add 3,100 more wells. The image was acquired September 3, 2003, covers an area of 10.7 x 13.5 km, and is centered near 42.5 degrees north latitude, 109.7 degrees west longitude.
