The worldÔÇÖs largest aluminum mill, Alcoa Inc.ÔÇÖs Davenport, Iowa plant, stretches 1.9 km along the Mississippi River. The facility produces aluminum sheets and plates used in bicycles, cars, trucks, planes, and rockets. Inside the plant, Mattress-sized ingots are squeezed and stretched and pulled to create 6-ton aluminum plates 35 m long. This simulated natural color ASTER image was acquired November 2, 2000, covers an area of 24.8 x 19 km, and is centered near 41.5 degrees North latitude , and 90.5 degrees West longitude.
