The aftermath of Tropical Storm Jeanne is seen in this after-and-before pair of ASTER images of Gonaives, Haiti. A gray ÔÇ£streamÔÇØ coming down from the middle center of the left image is the gravel deposits left from flood waters, that fanned out and covered the northeastern part of Gonaives. A road can be seen east of the city, now submerged under a filled-in lake. More than 2000 people lost their lives to flooding. The ASTER images were acquired on September 26, and May 12, 2004, and cover an area of 18 x 19.5 km. They are centered near 19.4 degrees north, 72.7 degrees west.
