On Sunday, October 26, ASTER captured this image of the Old Fire/Grand Prix fire burning on either side of Interstate 15 near the Cajon Pass in the San Bernardino Mountains 80 km east of Los Angeles. The fire had burned over 80,000 acres, consumed 450 structures, and caused 2 fatalities. Most of the local communities were evacuated as the fire continued to spread. The left image combines bands 4, 3 and 1 in RGB, and covers an area of 55 x 45 km. The right image is a simulated natural color image and covers 83 x 54 km. This image is located at 34.2 degrees north latitude, 117.4 degrees west longitude.
