Obtaining ASTER Data
ALERT
As of August 2009, ASTER billable orders from non NASA affiliated users are no longer being accepted from the
Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC). Metadata search and browse imagery
continue to be available through NASA Reverb,
the Warehouse Inventory Search Tool (WIST),
and GLOVIS.
The Earth Remote Sensing
Data Analysis Center (ERSDAC) is available to provide billable ASTER products to non NASA
affiliated users. Please contact LP DAAC
User Services for additional information.

ASTER is an on-demand instrument. This means that data is only acquired over
a location if a request has been submitted to observe that area. Any data that
ASTER has already acquired are available by searching and ordering those
data from the Japanese
Ground Data System (GDS) IMS
system, NASA Reverb, or through
WIST.
Billable orders must be processed through the GDS IMS interface.

Processing of
Level 1A data to Level 1B is provided on demand through NASA Reverb and the Japanese ASTER GDS. Higher level data products are also produced on demand; instructions for
requesting these products can be found by following the links at the left. To request
that ASTER acquire
new data see instructions found at the link "New Acquisition". If you
have scheduled an acquisition coincident with a field campaign, you can see if
your acquisition has been scheduled by going to the "Acquisition Calendar."
