Protected Area Archive

The purpose of the Protected Area Archive is to make NASA satellite images covering areas of conservation interest easily available, and to provide simple and intuitive tools to utilize it. The intended audience is largely conservation managers, and it assumes no knowledge of remote sensing, image processing, or GIS. It is hoped that this will help address what may be the two biggest obstacles to using satellite images that many conservation managers face: 1) finding and obtaining appropriate images and 2) viewing and analyzing the images. PAA is of particular use for monitoring, change detection, landscape planning, and communication. The data are free.
