Okata is a small village of about 3,000 residents in northwest Japan. It is known internationally for its Solar-car rally. The village consists entirely of land reclaimed from the former Lake Hachirogata, and is mostly below sea level (Wikipedia). The image was acquired August 28, 2012, covers an area of 17.5 by 22.8 km, and is located at 40 degrees north, 139.9 degrees east.
