The Carrizo Plain is a large enclosed plain, about 80 by 24 km, located 160 km northwest of Los Angeles, California. It contains the 100,000 ha Carrizo Plains National Monument, and is the single largest native grassland remaining in California. It is one of the easiest places to see surface fractures of the San Andreas Fault, evident as it crosses the image from lower right to upper left. The image was acquired May 12, 2007, covers an area of 33 by 56 km, and is located at 35.1 degrees north latitude, 119.6 degrees west longitude.
