In Tibet, China has begun construction of the world’s largest dam. The dam is situated in the Yarlung Tsangpo canyon, the world’s largest and deepest canyon. The river flows through the Tibetan Plateau, then through India and Bangladesh. When completed, the dam will be larger than the Three Gorges dam, currently the world’s largest. The image covers an area of 34 by 45 km, was acquired September 19, 2021, and is located at 29.8 degrees north, 95.2 degrees east.
