Pico Island is part of the Portuguese Azores, in the middle of the North Atlantic. Pico Volcano, at 2350 m in altitude, has been active in both geological and historical times. The discovery of the Azores by Portuguese navigators was before 1375, when the islands appear in historical atlas. The image was acquired August 22, 2020, covers an area of 27 by 47.6 km, and is located at 38.5 degrees north, 28.3 degrees west.
