Northwest of Los Angeles, California, a brush fire exploded on September 28. Growing to more than 23,000 acres, the blaze threatened homes, natural resources, power lines, and communications equipment in the Thousand Oaks region north of the Santa Monica Mountains. Hundreds of people were evacuated from their homes. By October 6, when this image was acquired, the fire was mostly contained. Bands 6, 3 and 1 are displayed in red, green and blue respectively. The image covers an area of 25.1 by 31.2 km, and is centered near 34.2 degrees north latitude, 118.7 degrees west longitude.
